This book struck a chord with me that I’m not sure I can explain to someone. The amount of emotion I felt reading this book caused me to cry for the first few chapters. My dad is a wounded vet that was injured while he was deployed. He had shrapnel in his knees, has had multiple surgeries and never talks about his time in the service or the fact he is a Purple Heart recipient. I guess the best way I can say is I could see this playing out in real life and the amount of emotion was almost debilitating for me. I have the utmost respect for our men and women who serve this country every day to protect the freedom we all enjoy.
As I continued to read about Judson and Quinn I found myself engrossed in the words and eager to flip to the next page. When we meet Judson for the first time he is in a hospital after his SEAL team encountered an IED that has taken one of Judson’s legs. He is trying to comprehend what is going on. Quinn is by his side for the first few weeks of his hospital stay.
I don’t want to give much away because this story is a journey of personal growth, acceptance and exorcise ones’ demons to live life to its fullest. I can’t imagine what it is like to have PTSD or the type of person it takes to stand strong and be there for the support they need. As you can guess Judson will need a lot of support to make it through to find his purpose in this life.
Quinn has exorcised her demons before we meet her in this book but we learn how Judson was there for her and saved her life. She has grown into a strong, independent woman who doesn’t want to get married because she is not able to have children.
These two have been in love with each other for 11 years and have been there for each other during their lowest points. Tiffiny Lynn has started a series that shows the struggle our men and women face when they come home back from a deployment to the daily grind. I’m not sure how she can write with so much emotion as bring on these incredible journeys.
If you are looking for a story that is full of emotions then this is the book for you. I am eager to read the next installment in this series. I have no doubt this will be as emotionally charged as this book.
