This is my favorite book of Kat’s so far. I have loved them all but this one seems to be the one I was most anticipating. Emilie and Chain’s story…. AWESOME
We met Emilie in the Sidewinder series and there has always been some sort of dark secret she has been keeping. Whatever it is has been eating her alive. Simone, Emilie and Viggo’s daughter drove away her demons for a while but now they are back with a vengeance. What can be so horrible that you would leave your family to turn yourself into the police? Hahaha not going to tell you.
This story revolves around two people who have been living with a horrible past. Emilie needed someone to love her while Chains (Daryl) needs to let go of the fear of something happening to someone he would love.
Emilie decides to head to London to exorcise her demons and puts herself into a very dangerous situation. She is rescued by Chains and taken to his mums house to see if they can figure out what happened. At this point she is hell bent on being punished.
Chains on the other hand is willing to help her find the answers that she seeks but wants to keep her at arm’s length. His mum explains Emilie only needs someone to love her and she will open up. He does just that and finds he needs her as much as he needs him.
Just when you think this story is going to be easy Kat throws a curve ball when there have been several incidents of vandalism. There is someone wanting to send them a message. Chains believe it is his past that is haunting him but can’t prove a thing. This is his worst nightmare.
Why did I like this story better than all of the others? Not sure really I have been wondering about Emilie for many books now. I was hoping it was Dante but surprise it isn’t her love. There is something that intrigued me about her and I’m glad this complicated story was told. There are many twists and turns along with mystery, murder, intrigue and a ending that brought together at least one of the books in the Sidewinder series. I thought we had most of the answers but Kat throws us a curveball here.
This was a fun read and I had a hard time putting it down. If you love Kat’s books then don’t miss this one.
